The Elite Pro djembes are hand made, custom carved professional grade instruments prepared with the finest materials. Each drum goes through a rigorous inspection of quality control using hand selected #1 quality mahogany hardwood. Only the best! Wood that is all legally harvested and certified to be legal timber, which is environmentally friendly.

Also, due to the specialized shell shape only 30% of the approved wood that is sorted for our Professional line meets the size, shape, and quality criteria for an Elite Pro. All shells have to be both hand carved and lathed. This is expensive and takes a long time. Every Elite Pro djembe is carved extra thick for incredible tones, and unsurpassed range.

Take special note of the neck ring on each Elite Pro djembe. Every drum is secured with a forged steel neck ring that is specifically fitted and built for each model. All Elite Pro shells are hand carved with a built in groove that is custom fitted to lock the ring system into place. This tedious process of welding a custom steel neck ring leads to a highly secured tuning system. When you tune up your new Elite Pro it stays locked and tight when performing. Our staved dununs are built from premium grade Black Walnut and quite thick (3/4" to 7/8"). They are headed with Guinea Cow hide with even thicknesses per drum side. We put a lot into these drums and it shows. They are loud and deep with the bass being felt as well as heard and the mids of the Sangban blasting through any ensemble.

These are custom built per order and usually take about 3 weeks. Through experimentation we have found that walnut produces the best sounding dununs, however, if you would like to explore other options for wood, please let us know by contacting us through our Rhythm House Drums website.

Rope color can be determined at time of purchase. Custom engraving as seen in the picture is not included with the drums but we can work with you to put a logo, your artwork, or tribal designs on the shell. The images are laser engraved into the Walnut, not painted or stenciled on. Bolokada Conde has said that the doundounba is the power, the kenkeni is the information, and the sangban ties/knits them together. -The kenkeni is the smallest of the three and has a higher pitch, it is used mainly to keep time. 9.5 x 20" -The sangban is the middle sized drum that is thought of as defining the rhythm, usually a bit more complex than the kenkeni. 13 x 24" -The doundounba is the largest and provides a deep bass. The dununba is the foundation to the rhythm. 17 x 28" Your Sangban will vary slightly from picture shown. Picture is only representation. Skin color will vary and each are hand shaped/finished and different hides used.

I stayed with my mother and started schooling at the Methodist primary school in town. I then moved to where my father stays, to be with him and to continue my education. I therefore studied at the Swedru School of Business where I took General Arts as a subject. While I was there, I was very much involved in the school's cultural troupe and performed with them. Upon completion of the Swedru School, I was a bit stranded with no money to further my education at the university level. Due to my interest in all things cultural things, I then decided to get involved in artworks, especially carving - drums to be specific. I moved back with my mother and then went under a three year training period, and now I am a master training three boys in the art of drum-making."
